I do not know if my house is in Nash or Edgecombe county. Does it matter?

For the permit it does, because they are two different offices. For whether we come out, no. Give us the address and we will work out which one it is.

My roof already has two layers. Can you go over the top again?

No. A third layer puts a lot of weight on wood nobody has looked at, and the nails no longer hold the way they should. On a house this age, taking it off is the only way to know what you are dealing with.

My gutter keeps pulling away from the house. Why?

Usually the wood board behind it has gone soft and will not hold the brackets. Putting the same gutter back on the same wood buys you one heavy rain. The wood has to be dealt with first.

Will you work on an older house?

Yes, and older houses are most of what we see here. What we will not do is put new siding over a water problem behind it and call it finished. If that is what we find, we will tell you.

Do you handle my insurance claim?

No. In North Carolina only you, a licensed public adjuster, or an attorney can negotiate a claim, and a contractor doing the repair is not allowed to act as your adjuster. We document the damage and price the work. We also will not cover your deductible — the NC Department of Insurance warns that accepting a "free roof" offer can put you in the wrong too.
