I have been flooded before and I know flood is separate. So what is left to check?

Your roof. It has been through wind in 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and there is a good chance nobody has been up there, because the water was always the bigger problem. That is the most common situation we find here.

My house was raised after the flooding. Does that change the job?

Not the roofing itself, but getting up there safely does, so we want to look before quoting. It also often turns out the roof is the oldest part of the house now.

Can you tell how old the damage is?

Roughly, and honestly. Fresh damage looks different from damage that has been weathering for four years. What we will not do is put a convenient date on old damage to line it up with a recent storm.

Where should my downspouts empty?

Further from the house than most of them do. In a town that has had water problems, extending the downspouts is one of the cheapest useful things you can do, and it should be part of the gutter job.

Do you handle my insurance claim?

No. In North Carolina only you, a licensed public adjuster, or an attorney can negotiate a claim, and a contractor doing the repair is not allowed to act as your adjuster. We document the damage and price the work; the claim stays yours.
